Get Your Flu Vaccination in Leicester
Protect yourself this winter by getting your seasonal flu vaccine in Leicester. If you plan to keep your body healthy, one worthy precaution to take is to get vaccinated for the flu each Autumn.
You can receive a flu vaccine from the NHS with us if you are in an eligible group, including:
- all children aged 2 to 15 (but not 16 years or older) on 31 August 2022
- those aged 6 months to under 50 years in clinical risk groups
- pregnant women
- those aged 50 years and over
- those in long-stay residential care homes
- carers
- close contact with immunocompromised individuals
Frontline health and social care staff employed by:
- a registered residential care or nursing home
- a registered domiciliary care provider
- a voluntary managed hospice provider
- Direct Payment (personal budgets) and/or Personal Health Budgets, such as Personal Assistants.
All frontline health and social care workers are expected to have influenza vaccination to protect those they care for. A separate communication will follow about staff vaccination.
We are unable at this point to vaccinate children below the age of 16. Please speak to us for advice.
Why do you need the seasonal flu vaccine each year?
Flu is an annual event which tends to progress and change each year. To address this, new vaccines must be created annually to match the evolution of viruses that are present. The same germs and constituents which were present the previous year will have changed by the following year. For this reason, it is recommended to get a flu jab each year.
